EARLIER LIFE AND EDUCATION
From my earliest memories, it’s all been around business – looking deep into how they work, why some succeed and others not. My academic background has focused on business, gaining a degree in Business and Marketing Management and later achieving my Master of Business Administration (MBA).
I started on a graduate management trainee programme in Washington DC, with Enterprise Rent a Car, then promoted to Area Manager with full P&L accountability. I demonstrated a strong track record of acquiring new business, opening new branches. I kept in touch with the customer, providing account management for large accounts such as BMW, Mercedes and Insurance Companies such as Royal Sun Alliance and through coaching my branch managers and corporate account managers.
Promotion took me to Sigma Kalon (Johnstones and Leyland Paint). As Regional Commercial Operations Manager, I turned around an underperforming region, delivered 25% year on year growth in new business activity. It was cost savings and growing the business that made me realise I wanted to move on to develop my own business.
Since 2007 I have been a Company Director and Franchisee Operator (multi-level) of the ‘Subway’ Brand. I opened my first store in 2008 and expanded to multi stores within three years. As Head of Business Operations, I work closely with the store managers to build strong businesses that continuously produce high profit margins with low food cost. I project manage store build and openings and I’m responsible for ensuring store managers and staff, meet and exceed, weekly/monthly targets and KPI’s.
I also worked as an independent consultant with franchisees of brands like Budget Rent A Car, Subway, Technology Independent Retailers, Smoothie Brands, Business Coach and Trainer. My key area of expertise being Franchisee recruitment and selection, Staff Training, Managers Training and Franchisee Training.
